(KGNS) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Eliomar Santos will serve one year in jail, followed by three years of probation, according to the Webb County district attorney's office.
The sentence follows a trial in which prosecutors and defense attorneys presented competing accounts of a 2022 encounter between Santos and a fellow CBP officer.
Prosecutors asked jurors to find Santos guilty on all four counts, arguing that he assaulted the woman, handcuffed her and held her in a closet at her home.
