AXTELL, Texas (KWTX) - When doctors told Jackson Manning he had cancer and would need his left leg amputated below the knee, the seventh grader had one immediate question: Could he still play football?Now 16 and a junior at Axtell High School, Manning is back on the field with the Longhorns, playing center and guard.

Axtell is 5-0 this season after making a deep playoff run last year.

Manning was diagnosed with myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma, a rare cancer, after an ankle injury in 2022.
