COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Health officials are warning Texans about a new substance showing up in the illicit drug supply.

Cychlorphine is an industrial chemical that acts on the same opioid receptors in the brain as fentanyl, according to Dr. Joy Alonzo, an associate professor at the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy and co-chair of the university's Opioid Task Force.

Unlike fentanyl, it has no history in medicine or veterinary use.
