Longview ISD board approves waiver application to change pre-K funding split with daycare partner

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The Longview ISD board of trustees voted 5-0 to approve a waiver application that would allow the district to change how it splits state pre-K funding with partner childcare provider Rising Star Daycares.

Under House Bill 2, at least 85% of state pre-K funding must go directly to a partner daycare - unless the state approves a waiver allowing a different arrangement.

Longview ISD previously operated under a 50/50 split with Rising Star Daycares.
