A man drowned in Sims Bayou near the Allendale neighborhood of Houston Friday evening after going into the water despite warnings from a bystander, according to Houston Police Department officials.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2026, near Mosa Creek at Allendale.

According to Lt. Pulido with HPD, the victim's car broke down in the area when a witness stopped to help him with repairs.
