WARD COUNTY, Texas (KOSA) - A 30-year-old Odessa woman is dead after a detached tire struck her vehicle on Interstate 20 on Aug. 6, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officers responded to a crash at mile marker 89 on I-20 at 6:10 p.m. A Chevrolet 3500 was driving westbound and had a mechanical failure that caused the front left tire and wheel to separate from the vehicle.

The detached tire rolled across the center median and into the eastbound lane, where it hit the windshield and roof of a Toyota 4Runner.
