MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - High school students from around Texas gathered at Texas State Technical College in Marshall Friday for an annual welding competition, where they tested their skills and competed for a chance to qualify for state."We have about 325 students here from about 25 different high schools," said Eric Pesak, executive director of the Texas High School Welding Series.

About 300 students took welding tests, while 14 teams participated in a build-off.

Pesak said the competition gives students a chance to practice under pressure and prepare for work after high school.
