PALESTINE, Texas (KLTV) - In Texas House District 8, incumbent state Rep. Cody Harris (R-Palestine) is facing a challenge from democrat Jeff Chavez.

Chavez, a former KLTV employee, said he entered the race following a school voucher town hall in Palestine where Harris spoke.

If elected, Chavez said he would champion a repeal of the school voucher law.
