ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - According to the press release by the City of Odessa, the foul-smelling drinking water in Odessa is safe to use.

There is a temporary change in the taste or the odor as a result of minerals in the water supplied by the Colorado River Municipal Water District (CRMWD).

City officials say the cause stems from three miles of new waterline put into service overnight by the Colorado River Municipal Water District."When that water was charged, and that line was charged, it picked up algae, and that influx of algae into our system caused that odor and that smell," said Aaron Smith, city manager for the City of Odessa.
