Uvalde County Commissioners could appoint a salary commission Oct. 13 as budget planning for the 2026-27 fiscal year has raised questions about commissioners' pay, county clerk staff salaries and equitable pay across county departments.

The court will meet at 10 a.m. to consider five people for the commission: Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Cynthia Casburn, District Clerk Christina Ovalle, District Judge Kelley Kimble, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Lalo Diaz and County Clerk Donna M. Williams.

Commissioners also will revisit Williams' request to transfer $65,000 in leftover 2025-26 department funds to increase staff salaries.
