HOUSTON, Texas - July 23, 2026 - As the nation observes Chronic Disease Awareness Day on July 10,Tashiba Williams, NP-C, founder of ADA Family Health Clinic, is drawing attention to a connection many Americans overlook: the direct link between unmanaged chronic disease and preventable limb loss.

Chronic Disease Awareness Day, observed annually on July 10, takes its date from the statistic that seven of the ten leading causes of death in the United States are chronic diseases.

For Williams, the observance is also a reminder of a less publicized statistic: the majority of the roughly 130,000 lower limb amputations performed in the United States each year are linked to chronic conditions, primarily diabetes, and many of them are preventable.
