The U.S. Senate race in Texas is shaping up to be the most expensive Senate race of all time as polling shows Democrat James Talarico extending his lead over Republican Ken Paxton.

By the numbers: The latest poll from the New York Times and Siena Research Institute shows Talarico leads Paxton by six points, 51% to 45%, with two weeks to go before early voting begins.

The two were tied at 47% in the same poll from June.
