- Standard file photo For three festive days this weekend, Marktplatz will come alive with the sights, sounds and flavors of Bavaria as thousands gather to celebrate Fredericksburg's German heritage at the 46th annual Oktoberfest.

Presented by the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance since 1981, Oktoberfest runs Friday through Sunday, Oct. 2-4, with five covered stages of continuous entertainment, German and Texas food, beer and wine, artisan shopping and activities for all ages.
