Houston officials celebrated the grand opening of Boulevard 61 on Monday, marking the addition of 90 affordable homes to a new 100-unit mixed-income apartment community in southwest Houston.

The development, located at 6101 Richmond Ave., received $2. 5 million in funding from the City of Houston through the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program.

Mayor John Whitmire joined city officials, housing advocates and representatives from DMA Companies and other partner organizations for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
