President Donald Trump took to social media Thursday to blast U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and GOP stalwart Karl Rove for doing "everything possible to make it hard" for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to win his U.S. Senate election.

Trump said in a Truth Social post that Rove and Cornyn, who lost a contentious and expensive primary runoff to Paxton in May, "should be ashamed of themselves" for their lack of support for Paxton.

"If Ken Paxton loses, it will be because of WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Political Hacks like John Cornyn and Karl Rove, who have ineffectively opposed me for my entire political career," Trump wrote.
