The Uvalde City Council will consider renewing a 10-year lease with Texas A&M University for the land that houses the Texas A&M AgriLife Research & Extension Center at Uvalde.

The 6 p.m. Oct. 27 meeting will be held in the Uvalde City Council chambers at city hall, after four consecutive meetings were held at the Willie De Leon Civic Center.

Uvalde Mayor Hector Luevano told the Leader-News the meetings moved to the civic center because of air conditioning issues, but said the system at city hall is now "up and running." Under the draft interlocal agreement included in the city's agenda packet, Texas A&M would lease one 58-acre tract and one 50-acre tract from the city for 10 years at an annual cost of $2,705.
