(KGNS) - A Webb County employee who has carried health insurance for years is considering dropping his coverage, saying he worries he can no longer afford it.
The employee, who is choosing to remain anonymous, said he still believes he needs insurance."Like I said, it's a huge gamble. I do consider myself an active individual. I like exercising, eating healthy and all that. But anything can happen. Accidents can happen. The medical insurance is a safety blanket. Whenever you're feeling bad or anything, you can just go to an ER or your personal doctor and just get some peace of mind," he said.
The employee said he has always signed up for the county's health insurance program but is reconsidering this year."So, for medical only, almost about $80 to $100 every paycheck," he said.
