The discovery of a New World screwworm infestation in a Medina County cow has led to the creation of a ninth active infestation zone in Texas, and it spans portions of Uvalde County.

The Texas Animal Health Commission established Infested Zone 9 on June 24 after the state confirmed its 20th infestation.
