(KGNS) - Seniors living at the Hamilton Senior Apartments are facing indoor temperatures topping 90 degrees with no permanent cooling solution in place, prompting a special city council meeting Friday, August 14.

Mayor Dr. Victor Trevio said he visited the building and personally installed a portable air conditioning unit on the top floor."For example, in one apartment, we installed an air conditioning unit, the temperature was 91 degrees. So one unit is not enough for these apartments," Trevio said.

Units too large for single portable A/CTrevio said the building's two-bedroom units are too large for a single portable air conditioner, leaving bedrooms without adequate cooling even when a unit is running in the living room."Those, in my opinion, are not acceptable living conditions, particularly during the extreme heat we're experiencing, especially if someone has a medical condition," he said.
