WHITEHOUSE, Texas (KLTV) - About 100 nails were removed from the roadway of Highway 110 in Whitehouse before the hazard caused issues for vehicles, the Whitehouse Police Department announced Friday.

A police spokesperson said a citizen notified the department and it quickly responded to retrieve the large number of nails that likely spilled into the roadway."Today's 'Most Unwanted Cargo' Award goes to... a bucket of nails," the spokesperson cheekily wrote on Facebook.

Citizens helped officers remove the nails, even as traffic drove by, the spokesperson wrote."Thanks to everyone's quick response, they likely saved a lot of people from flat tires, damaged vehicles and a very bad day," they wrote.
