The numbers are in, and they underscore the scale of the effort to restore Moss Creek Lake.
Cleanup Organizer Keith Stelter of the Stelter Initiative announced that volunteers and heavy equipment crews removed 41. 5 tons of waste during the July 18 community cleanup, including 22. 5 tons of trash and debris and 19 tons of discarded tires.
The tire haul alone included 70 large tractor tires and approximately 200 passenger vehicle tires, highlighting years of accumulated dumping at the popular recreation area.
