CANTON, Texas (KLTV) - A funeral service was held for Van Zandt County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Sherifi, who was killed in a shootout while serving a warrant last week.

Hundreds of first responders, family and friends packed Gravity Athletics in Canton to remember Sherifi.

Support came from across Texas - and as far as New York City and Chicago through Brotherhood for the Fallen - including Texas Game Warden Drew Stokes and Smith County Chief Deputy Gary Pinkerton's team."We put our uniforms on, kiss our families goodbye. We don't know if we're going to make it back home. This is a tragic event that happened in a small town. And so we're here to show our support to the family and community, just let them know that if one falls, we all come together and honor his memory," Pinkerton said.
