NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges asked commissioners to apply for an immigrant enforcement grant to bring more beds to the Nacogdoches County Jail.

The grant is part of the U.S. Department of Justice's "Bridging Immigration Related Deficits Experienced Nationwide" program.

The program requires law enforcement agencies to have a partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and participate in immigration enforcement efforts."We're applying for it to try to get some additional beds. We said, 'Why not?' if you approve that, just to try to add to what we're currently doing. I think it fits right in line with what we're trying to do," Bridges said.
