LAMESA, Texas (KCBD) - Lamesa Police Department detectives and officers executed a search warrant in the 900 block of North Avenue L on Friday as part of an investigation into alleged cockfighting activities.

During the search, authorities seized approximately 90 roosters, cockfighting paraphernalia, 13 pounds of marijuana, 380 grams of methamphetamine, 16 grams of cocaine and $44,973 in U.S. currency.

80-year-old Nancy Ortiz was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1, 4 grams to 200 grams), manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1, 200 grams to 400 grams) and possession of marijuana (more than 5 pounds, less than 50 pounds).
