HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman died, and two others were hurt in a crash in southeast Houston involving a driver who was allegedly intoxicated, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said the two-vehicle crash happened at around 9 p.m. on Sunday on E. Orem Drive near Martindale Drive.

"From what we've gathered in the preliminary investigation, the striking unit, which is a Jeep SUV, was traveling westbound on East Orem Drive at a high rate of speed, according to multiple witnesses. While traveling westbound, it collided with a Honda Accord that was exiting a residential neighborhood," HPD Sgt. Garcia said, adding that a woman inside the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
