Bandera Independent School District and the Bandera County Sheriff's Office are warning students, parents and community members about a viral social media trend involving the "Cat in the Hat" character after posts connected to the trend began circulating in the local community.
In a safety notice dated Aug. 31, Bandera ISD Superintendent Gary Bitzke said the district recently became aware of social media content on TikTok and other platforms involving what is commonly referred to as the "Cat in the Hat" trend.
The district said the trend includes edited and AI-generated images and videos depicting the Dr. Seuss character in threatening or intimidating situations.
