For a lot of Kerr County families, Big Bend is a tradition: spring break in the Chisos Basin, a float through Santa Elena Canyon, a fall drive out to Terlingua under the darkest skies in Texas.

That tradition is now at the center of a fight that has reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, the Trump administration asked the justices to lift a federal judge's order that has halted all border barrier construction across the Big Bend region.
