KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Killeen Mayor Joseph Solomon is launching a faith-based initiative, beginning with a community forum next month that he hopes will bring together faith and religious organizations of all kinds to better collaborate with the city.

Solomon, who also serves as a campus pastor for Christian House of Prayer, said the roles of pastor and mayor share a common purpose."As a pastor you help people. As the mayor or a council member, you are helping people. You're helping them in a larger capacity but, pretty much the same," Solomon said.

Solomon said the goal of the forum is to give local faith communities and faith-based nonprofit organizations a seat at the table with city leadership."We need to connect and how we connect like we're doing, this is not a one time event. This is the initial event but hopefully this will go on long after I'm gone," Solomon said.
