LAREDO, Tex.

(KGNS) - Webb County commissioners have ordered a forensic audit of the sheriff's office, hiring an independent certified public accountant to review financial records dating back to January 2020.

The move follows the federal indictment of Sheriff Martin Cuellar earlier this year in an alleged COVID-19-era fraud scheme.
