GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas - The Galveston County Sheriff's Office says a deputy has been fired after the agency reviewed video footage that depicted the deputy driving a marked unit in an "unacceptable" manner.

According to the sheriff's office, the footage showed the deputy following another vehicle at an extremely close distance and operating the marked unit in a manner that occupied and impeded the lane of traffic, limiting the ability of other motorists to safely pass.

"The conduct demonstrated in the video was inappropriate, unacceptable, and inconsistent with the standards expected of every member of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. This type of behavior will NOT be tolerated," the sheriff's office said.
