Former San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus is shifting into a new role at Pearl one week after he started working as head of security for the popular mixed-use development.

McManus will assist the Pearl in a "consulting role," Silver Ventures and Pearl said in a statement Friday.

"At the conclusion of his first week, William McManus and Silver Ventures leadership met to assess the role and the security needs of the organization and quickly recognized that his greatest value to Pearl would be through a consulting role rather than a traditional full-time position," the statement said.
