The Bandera County Sheriff's Office assisted Bandera County Precinct 2 Constable Greg Spengler in executing a search and seizure warrant Friday morning at the We Care Wildlife Sanctuary in Lakehills, according to officials.

According to a statement from Sheriff Josh Teitge, the warrant was executed at approximately 7 a.m. Sept. 4. Representatives from the American Humane Society, San Antonio Zoo, veterinarians and livestock specialists were at the sanctuary and conducted medical assessments of the animals and evaluated their living conditions, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Following the medical assessments, multiple animals were seized and transported to appropriate locations for further treatment and testing.
