As the summer heat dissipates and the autumn prelude to winter cools the path, the urge to gather and hear stories of murder and mayhem in the community draws nigh.
"Kerrville has a history that refuses to stay in the past," said Kevin Clark, leader of the annual Haunted Walk tours each October in downtown Kerrville.
