HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A young child was killed, and two others were injured in a shooting in northwest Harris County Saturday night, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said shots were fired at a mother who was driving west on Grant Road near Jones Road with her five children in the car at around 11:30 p.m. Deputies said the mother's five-year-old child was hit.

HCSO said the child was taken to a hospital by helicopter and later pronounced dead.
