Kerr County Assistant Veteran Service Officer Chase Allsup says he helps Kerr County veterans find their way through the Veterans Benefits Administration to receive the benefits they have earned through military service.
"We mainly have to work by appointment," he says.
"There are at least 5,000 Kerr County veterans that we know of, but population studies say that about 14 to 15 percent of the population has served in the military. There are only two of us for the county, VSO Jenna Sanchez, U.S. Air Force, retired, and me, and the VA can be complex. "But we do have a system to manage that workload, so we can continue to help each veteran file quality claims.
