(KLTV) - Texas has had a Republican in the governor's office since 1994, but Democrats hope to change that in this midterm election.

The governor's race between Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who has held office since 2015, and Democratic state House Rep. Gina Hinojosa, has been one of the most anticipated this year.

Texas has elected only Republican governors since 1994, and Trump endorsed Abbott for re-election.
