KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Texas A&M University-Central Texas President Richard M. Rhodes will retire effective June 1, 2027, or once his successor is appointed, the university announced Wednesday.

Rhodes has served as president of the Killeen-based university since fall 2023, following a career in Texas higher education that included serving as the longest-tenured chancellor of the Austin Community College District and president of El Paso Community College.

During his tenure, A&M-Central Texas expanded its academic offerings and campus footprint, according to the university.
