AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - Longview attorney Jose Sanchez met with Gina Hinojosa during her campaign stop in Longview, discussing her platform, outreach to East Texas voters and her approach to leading state government following her election victory.

Sanchez said early skepticism surrounded Hinojosa's gubernatorial bid due to incumbent advantages and fundraising disparities."Early on, a lot of people doubted Gina. She didn't get a lot of support," Sanchez said.

"I think early on, it was difficult for her, but I think her persistence, her perseverance of fighting day by day, walking the walk, going the doors, going to local events... and to meet people."Hinojosa campaigned in traditionally conservative East Texas, targeting education, school funding and rural voter turnout.
