A former Seguin City Council member is making his return to the legislative body after his victory over a fellow community member in Tuesday's election.

Chris Aviles, who once served as the council member from District 3, proved victorious in winning the District 5 seat in a contest that pit him against Forrest Fletcher.

With 37 polls reporting and a sizable lead late Tuesday, Aviles claimed the victory, which he labeled a team win of the people and by the people.
