SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Smith County firefighters rescued two stranded boaters on Prairie Creek near Tyler Pounds Airport Monday.

Officials say the two people struggled to get a pedal boat back to the dock after it rained.

First responders hiked to find the boat before making the rescue."It might look like fun. It might look like a good time to go fishing or something of that nature. Really what the risk is, is that when you get into waters that are swollen or uncontrolled like that, it certainly can be a hazard quickly. And so, something fun can turn really dangerous quickly," said Eric Greaser, chief of operations with Smith County ESD 2. The two people rescued were not hurt, though they were shaken up.
