On Friday, Sept. 11, at Trailhead Beer Garden on the Schreiner University campus, an event honoring Patriot Day was held at 5 p.m., emceed by Kerrville City Council member Jeff Harris.

To start the event, the song "Remember the Day" by Steven Curtis Chapman was played, followed by an invocation from former Kerrville Mayor Bill Blackburn and the performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by the Schreiner University Drum and Bugle Team and Color Guard.

President of Schreiner University, Dr. Charlie McCormick, spoke at the event about his own experience on the day of the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. James David Herd is the Managing Editor of the Kerrville Daily Times.
