Big Spring - The Big Spring City Council convened a special session Tuesday night, taking swift action to approve the purchase of a specialized aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle for McMahon-Wrinkle Airport.
City leaders unanimously authorized the acquisition of a 2013 Oshkosh Striker 4500 aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) truck, citing both regulatory requirements and operational needs at the airport.
Airport Director Mike Feeley told council members the purchase is necessary to meet federal aviation standards tied to commercial flight operations.
