The City of San Antonio appointed a 26-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department Wednesday to to succeed former chief William McManus.

City Manager Erik Walsh will name Jesus "Jesse" Salame to lead the police department, according to District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur, who also serves as chair of the Public Safety Committee.

Walsh is expected to make the official announcement at 12:30 p.m. KSAT will livestream the news conference in this article.
