KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Progress is being made to preserve the roughly 150-year-old Primitive Baptist Church in Killeen after it was vandalized, according to Keith George, a historic preservationist with the Killeen Area Heritage Association.

George has spent weeks cleaning up the building."Our trash pile is starting to grow even better, which is great," George said.

"All this will be tossed away. We will re-inventory it and then put a destruction document on each one of them."With help from volunteers, George has cataloged a good portion of the historic records and other artifacts remaining in the church from its time as a museum."Because the City Hall is in the old school and they have an old school section there so, they've expressed interest in the old yearbooks and that's exciting," George said.
