AUSTIN, Texas (KBTX) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a federal grant to assist Texas with the costs of fighting the Ross Fire, which has burned more than 50,000 acres in North Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday.

The Fire Management Assistance Grant will reimburse the state for 75% of eligible wildfire suppression costs.

As of Tuesday morning, the blaze was 5% contained after threatening homes, damaging property, and prompting the overnight evacuation of approximately 630 homes in Palo Pinto and Jack counties.
