TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A local nonprofit is stitching together a tighter community in Tyler, offering a safe and inclusive "third space" for residents to connect over crafts.

Recraft & Co. hosted its monthly "Hook and Needle" night, welcoming both experienced crafters and beginners to work on crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, and embroidery projects."It's a way that we can bring community with all of our crocheters and our crafters," said Courtney Boaz, whose part of the board of directors.

"It's one of the many programs that we have, and it's pretty popular."Fighting isolation through craftRecraft & Co. aims to serve as a designated "third space", a place outside of home and work, specifically designed to foster connections among marginalized groups and combat modern-day isolation."We saw that there was a lack of community among marginalized groups in Tyler," Boaz said.
