JARRELL, Texas - A domestic disturbance in Jarrell ended in a standoff and the death of a local man following an exchange that prompted a brief shelter-in-place order for nearby residents.

What we know: According to the Jarrell Police Department, officers responded to a family disturbance call at approximately 9:35 a.m. in the 100 block of Citation Drive.

The first officer on the scene made contact with the home's occupants, at which point a woman ran out of the residence and a man slammed the door.
