TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The East Texas Crisis Center is working to launch a men's group aimed at preventing domestic violence by promoting personal and peer accountability across the community.
Cannon Roberts, BIPP (Battering Intervention and Prevention Program) coordinator at the East Texas Crisis Center, discussed the initiative during a men's breakfast at Dayspring Methodist Church in Tyler."We are working to start a men's group that helps fight against domestic violence," he explained.
"We are looking for ways that we can stop that violence in the community."Roberts said domestic violence is often viewed as a women's issue because women are most frequently the victims, but men perpetrate the violence in roughly 99% of cases.
