GREGG COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - The Gregg County Sheriff's Office is getting an equipment upgrade.

Commissioners approved a $176,000 purchase of 20 new two-way radios.

Lt. Jonathan Prior said he has experience with two-way radios but has never used anything like the Motorola APX portable radio."In regards to like, the cell signal that these radios now have, if we're in an area where we wouldn't normally get radio reception, we're now able to have that radio reception where can transmit and get out and communicate with a dispatcher or other units or responding units if we're on a call," Prior said.
