ROBERTSON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - The Brazos Valley has historically been noted for the three C's in agriculture: cattle, cotton and corn."It's easy to look back and say it's been ideal. As you're going through it, it never seems like it's ideal, but even our dry spells have been at opportune times and our wetter spells have been at opportune times," Robertson County farmer and rancher Lee Denena said.

Denena said that with lower commodity prices, production has always been key."It seems to me that typically we'll either have yield or price, and that's okay. It's when you don't have yield or price, that's when the years that are really tough," Denena said.

"So we're producers. I've learned over the years the only way we're successful out here financially as a business is to produce."Denena said that diversifying his cattle operation helps him hedge against market fluctuations."A lot of our, again, our products go straight into the cattle. The cattle market is strong, and so that's how we market our corn, a lot of our corn," Denena said.
